Dutch photographer Anton Corbijn has had a major influence on international music and portrait photography. The creative, off-beat way he has photographed performing artists since the 1970s has become his personal trademark. In the exhibition and the book 1-2-3-4 he looks back at his work in the music industry.
During 2017, Belgian MAPS photographer John Vink set out to capture the Belgian’s mentality on democratic rights and what they could do about them. His project focussed on the “Civil Society Resistance.” Vink will be present at the 12th De Donkere Kamer in Antwerp at the Toneelhuis to discuss his elaborate project.
Belgian photographer Nick Hannes is currently working on the project ‘Garden of Delight’, about consumerism, recreation and artificial urban development in Dubai. Through his camera, he focuses on the bizarre peculiarities of this unique city. The series was awarded the Magnum photography Award in 2017, the Zeiss Photography Award in 2018 and shortlisted for the Nannen Preis 2018.
Dutch photographer Ilvy Njiokiktjien is documentary photographer and a jack of all trades in terms of multimedia journalism. Her photographs draw attention to current affairs and contemporary social issues. The work has taken her everywhere, with her latest focus being South Africa.
